We gave it a good shot!
At the suggestions of our friends, whose daughter is Tess's BFF (Katie), we followed along and enrolled Tess in soccer through Northside Christian Church.

It was everything we thought it would be and nothing we hoped it would be, ha! Weekly practices and games for a 4-year old who isn't really interested? Not so much our thing. Saturday morning games in the heat, with little sister Kate running hither and yon... while Tess would rather dance with Katie or hunt for pretty leaves on the field... instead of chasing the ball? Definitely not our thing.
Despite our best efforts, Tess just didn't take to it. But we made some memories, and got some good dertures, which you can look at here: Tess's Soccer Adventure. Maybe we'll try again when Tess is older... or maybe not!
