Dear Family & Friends,
Another year has flown by! Isn’t that what everyone’s Christmas letter begins with? Here are the highlights from 2010…
• Chad continues to LOVE working at Clovis North High School. He’s teaching 2 sections of AP Literature, Juniors English, and coaching the Speech & Debate team. This summer he took 6 of his top competitors to the National Forensics League tournament in Kansas City, Missouri. He’s also helping out with writing standardized lesson plans for the English Language-Arts (ELA) program and giving private debate lessons in his “spare time.” Golfing takes a backseat during the school year, but he and his brother took their dad to Seattle for a round at Chambers Bay this summer.
• Sarah continues to enjoy working as the Risk Manager for PrideStaff, managing a team of 3, and business in the staffing industry is BOOMING! Our department is very busy lately (managing all sorts of risk, ha!) and we are thankful for the newest part-time addition to our team – my cousin Maribeth! Much of Sarah’s “spare time” is devoted to her involvement with the Junior League of Fresno, serving as this year’s Membership Vice President. JLF is a nonprofit women’s organization focused on voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and serving women and children and need. With whatever time is left, you can find her cooking, taking pictures, or blogging about our thoughts and adventures at earth2hayden.blogspot.com.
• While we didn’t take any extravagant trips overseas this year, we enjoyed 2 mini-vacations with our dear friends from Dallas, Randy & Lindsey. In July we visited San Francisco and Napa, and in September we joined them in Austin for Labor Day weekend. We are so blessed to enjoy such a fun and fulfilling friendship with them! Being together feels like home, wherever we are.
• We also enjoyed some great weekend trips, visiting family and friends around the country and just getting away, whether individually or together – SoCal, San Luis Obispo, Phoenix , Chicago, etc. We enjoy traveling so much and are grateful to know wonderful people in lots of fun places!
• After 8 years in our cute little home, we were finally inspired to put in a backyard this summer. We got a good start before the school year began, with a new french door, a large patio, and GRASS! Next up -- a patio cover and furniture, and some trees/flowers to finish out the landscaping.
• In August, our friend Susi Klaiber, whom we met while traveling in Germany in 2006, came to visit for a month. We had a great time catching up with her, brushing up on our German, and showing her the best sights around California! We continue to stay in touch through Facebook and Skype.
• In February of 2011 we will be an “Aunt and Uncle” again to another niece – congratulations to Chad’s brother Chris, his wife Kristi, and their daughter (our adorable niece), Elise (age 4).
• We continue to enjoy rich and meaningful fellowship on Sundays and Tuesdays, meeting in a home with our small church group of 10+ years.
We’re looking forward to spending time with family and friends this Holiday season, and reflecting on our many blessings. We hope all is well with you and yours, and look forward to staying in touch!
With Love, The Haydens
